ACCIDENTS HAPPEN IN RACING

Hi everybody, well Mr. Jeff Wolf asked if I would do a blog for the RJ this season and since the RJ is my home paper and Jeff is my favorite reporter I had no choice but to say yes.

I am going to try my hardest not to get myself into to much trouble here, as anyone who has ever followed my career can tell you my mouth has been known to get me into trouble from time to time, but I am sure that at some point I will say something that upsets somebody and I’ll deal with the consequences later.

I just got back home to Vegas from Daytona where I had what may be the best racecar I have ever had at the “World Center of Speed”. Our Toyota Camry had come back from a lap down (because of a pit road penalty) and had finally made my way back into the top 10 when, well let’s just say I’m as big of a fan of Junior’s (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) as the next guy, but really did not need to give him a piggy back ride after he crashed. That’s just the nature of superspeedway racing, nowhere to go and nobody’s fault really. He and I were in the care center at the same time getting checked out after the crash and had a few laughs about it, because that really is the only thing you can do at that point.

Speaking of Junior, a really funny observation of the weekend, we saw Junior get pushed out of the way so people could get to Danica (Patrick), how often do you think that has happened in his life?

For those that don’t know, I have a new crew chief, Brad Parrott, this year. Brad is just as goofy as me so this could be kind of fun this season. I’ve seen him work in the garage for years but never had any clue how uber-organized he is, the man has notes for his notes, but he may be the most prepared crew chief I have ever seen. We were sitting in the trailer at Daytona on opening day and he handed me a stat sheet… Of my career at Daytona! It had information on there that I had no clue about.

As a driver you always want to feel like you can trust your crew chief with anything and that he will always have your back and he proved that right out of the box. It was really funny, anyone ever seen a picture of my wife, Tatum? Well she WAS the gorgeous blonde girl next to me before every race, NOW she is the stunning brunette next to me. Well Brad has a big picture of she and I in his office at Rusty Wallace Inc. from last year, and when he met her for the first time he was very polite and then when she went to say hi to the rest of the guys he looked at me and asked “Do I need to take that picture down in my office?” Now I know there may be some people out there saying “That’s not right!”, but if you look at Tatum’s picture it is a stark difference and he just didn’t want to get me in trouble, that’s a guy that is going to look out for his driver.

All right, well this is enough babbling for now, it’s off to the South Point for a video shoot and then off to California Tuesday morning to go to Toyota Racing Development and sign autographs for employees and families.
So talk to you soon and Go Hoyas (sorry, love what Coach Kruger has done with the Runnin’ Rebs but I can’t turn on my Hoyas)!

Hello, that was definitely an interesting post. I had actually been searching for a photo printing related blog for a while now. Appreciate it! Do you offer a subscription service? because I can’t seem to find the details anywhere.
