My happy New Year predictions

Everyone else makes their predictions about the upcoming season, so I figured I’d go ahead and jump on that bandwagon. Here goes:

Mark Martin wins the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship – end of story – thanks for reading.

Oh, alright, I guess I’ll make more predictions, although that’s the only one I really care about. I’ve given up making predictions about the Rookie of the Year for all three top series, the rookie classes are just too unpredictable and I can never keep straight who is actually qualified for that honor and who isn’t.

Let’s begin with the Camping World Truck Series. Ron Hornaday, Jr will not win another championship this year. That was an easy prediction, but you’re wanting more than that? Hmm…well, the way I see it, Kyle Busch will find sponsorship for 2008 Champ Johnny Benson (JB) and JB will give Kyle Busch Motorsports a championship in their inaugural season.

Another few notable Truck Series predictions I have…Terry Cook will only have a good ride this year – come on, give the guy a break, he’s been in the truck series forever so just give him some good equipment and he’ll show them all how to win races. There is one thing about the Truck series in 2010 – it just won’t be the same without a Roush truck in the field. And the winner of the Las Vegas race will be Brian Ickler.

Now on to the Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards Show – I mean the Nationwide Series. Danica Patrick will not win the championship. I know, I think I just deflated the dreams of half of the male race fans. But hey guys, she’s not running the full season, so there’s no way she can win it. Last I heard, Kyle wasn’t officially going to try to defend his title.

There is some good talent among the Nationwide-only drivers and I think if Rusty Wallace can secure some good sponsorship money, he’s got a chance at getting his kid into the top five. I’m hoping for good things for Brad Keselowski – I know he’s getting tired of finishing third. A new ride for him this year may be just what he needs to finally get that championship. Oh, and the finish of the Las Vegas race will be a drag race with one of the closest finishes ever between Brendan Gaughan and Kyle Busch.

Now for the Sprint Cup predictions…drum roll please…Jimmie Johnson will fail to make The Chase, much to the delight of all non-Jimmie Johnson fans. Jeff Gordon still has some t-shirts left from the past few years saying “drive for five” so he’s decided to keep that slogan going, but alas it still won’t happen.

On top of winning the championship, Mark will announce another contract extension and keep his fans very happy with the news that he will continue driving as long as Kenny Schrader does.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will win a race this year and make the Chase. (Oh stop your snickering, I’ve been a fan of his since he raced in the old Busch series. I’ve got to have some hope). Talladega will finally have a race without a car flipping down the front stretch (Yeah right, I was just seeing if you were all paying attention). And the winner of the Las Vegas race will be Kurt Busch.

As for some other NASCAR predictions…we’ll finally get to hear the name of our state pronounced correctly since ESPN has listened to the fans and kicked Dr. Punch out of the booth. SPEED Channel will finally come to its senses and we’ll actually get to watch a SPEED show without Jimmy Spencer. And finally, the results of the Most Popular Driver voting have already been tallied and Dale Jr. has been declared the winner.

Happy New Year everyone and enjoy the 2010 NASCAR season.

  1. Thanks for posting this, I’m always looking for offers so this is great

  2. Photo booth use is becoming popular at major events because of the effect they have on people. People react differently to personal cameras, but almost always behave silly in a photo booth. What better mood thansilly for an event where people are initially nervous and have social anxieties. Withe a booth, you can now buy “silly.”

  3. It is good that you took the time to write all this up; it’s encouraging to see another’s opinion. I respect your work on this post, and I’ll come back for more information.

lol with Mark Martin driving as long as Ken Shrader does. I love the idea with him winning the championship, I think everyone loves that idea at 51 years-old becoming the OLDEST champ. How about him winning the 2010 Daytona 500 & the Brickyard 400 FINALLY.
