TUMS IS MY PERFORMANCE ENHANCER

After two busy weeks in Daytona and then a quick trip to California, Las Vegas always offers a reprieve with its great food, fun and racing!

Las Vegas is the first of five races that TUMS will have the primary paint scheme on the No. 00 Toyota. TUMS and I go way back … all the way to my first few seasons with Michael Waltrip Racing.

When you live like we do – traveling all the time, making appearances, constantly on the go – eating bad food and stress go hand in hand. That’s what I felt in my rookie year in 2007. Not only was I adjusting to racing at the Sprint Cup Series level, I also was adjusting to life as a racecar driver. TUMS became a staple in my diet. I was taking them often just to try to get through every race weekend. At one point, I was really looking at buying company stock.

Although I still use TUMS, racing has only gotten better since then. After a strong 15th-place finish at California on Sunday and sitting eighth in the points standings, the No. 00 team is really looking forward to a good race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We qualified fourth and finished fourth there in 2009, so we’ll be using a similar setup this year to hopefully propel the team to its first pole and win of the season.

Racing at Las Vegas is a lot of fun because the progressive banking allows for multiple racing lines. Depending on my car or the competitors, I can stay on the bottom or go high. It’s really nice to have options on the racetrack.

Unique to the track is the Neon Garage, a diamond-shaped garage that allows fans to get up close to the action and see the crews working on the cars. Around the time we practice, qualify or race, you’ll see the drivers lingering about waiting to go to work. If you are going to the race this weekend, you should check it out.

What’s also cool about the Neon Garage is it serves as Victory Lane on Sunday. The fans are actually a part of the celebration. Maybe this is my year to celebrate in Victory Lane with the fans!

If you’ll be at the race this weekend, stop by the TUMS Fast Relief Zone on Sunday at 9:05 a.m. to say hello. They have free samples of my secret weapon for relief!
